DIRECTIONS TO FOREST OF DEAN CAMPING
PLEASE NOTE – YORKLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL IS LOCATED HALF A MILE FROM THE SITE. IT IS BUSY BETWEEN 2.30PM-3.15PM, SO IT IS BEST TO AVOID THIS TIME. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CAUTION AS THE CARS DO PARK ON THE ROADSIDE.
FROM MIDLANDS & CHELTENHAM/GLOUCESTER:
M5 – Take junction 11 signposted A40 Cheltenham/Gloucester
At Golden Valley Junction take 3rd Exit onto A40 to Gloucester/Cirencester
At the next three roundabouts take A40
At Hignham roundabout take 1st Exit on to A48
Continue along A48 for 13 miles.
After passing through Blakeney, at the top of the hill, turn right into Viney Hill/Yorkley. Please drive carefully along this road as is can be slightly narrow in places.
Approx 3 miles you will enter Yorkley. After passing the small shop on your left, approx. 150m ahead you will see The Bailey Pub, turn left in front of the pub.
Please drive carefully as there is a primary school and the cars park on the road side. After passing the school, approx. 100m turn left into Yorkley Wood Road – THIS IS A SINGLE TRACK WITH PULL IN AREAS. Continue along this lane until you see a signpost for site. Located on the right.
FROM BRISTOL/CHEPSTOW/LYDNEY:
At the roundabout after the Severn Bridge, head toward Chepstow. At the next roundabout, take the 3rd Exit onto the A48 into Chepstow. TAKE NOTE – THIS IS A 20MPH ZONE.
Stay on the A48 for approx. 8 Miles. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A48 Bypass for approx. 1.5 miles, towards Gloucester (this avoids driving through town and along narrow roads). IF YOU ARE IN A LARGE VEHICLE OR TOWING A TRAILER/CARAVAN, DO NOT TURN LEFT TOWARDS YORKLEY AS SIGNPOSTED OFF THE A48 (this will be where sat nav would take you)
CARS after 1.5 miles – Turn left at the signpost towards Lydney/Yorkley. You will pass CO OP fuel station and shop on your left. 100m past here, take the turning right, signposted Yokley. Please drive carefully as it is a single track road with pull ins. At the next junction turn right. Approx 1.5 miles, you will enter Yorkley. Immediately after seeing the sign for Yorkley, turn left into Yorkley Wood Road.
THIS IS A SINGLE TRACK WITH PULL IN AREAS. Continue along this lane until you see a signpost for site. Located on the right.
MOTORHOMES/CAMPERVANS/CARAVANS – Continue along the A48 after the turning the cars will take on the bypass for another 1.5 miles. Take the LEFT turning for VINEY HILL (take this slowly as it is on the brow of the hill). Please drive carefully along this road as is can be slightly narrow in places.
Approx 3 miles you will enter Yorkley. After passing the small shop on your left, approx. 150m ahead you will see The Bailey Pub, turn left in front of the pub.

FROM MONMOUTH/ABERGAVENNY:
Off A40 in Monmouth take the A466 Over Monnow Bridge toward Coleford. Continue straight over the next two small roundabouts that take you up the hill (Lidl Supermarket will be on your right).
Continue along this road for approx. 5 miles. Drive carefully as it is a winding uphill road the entire way.
At the temporary traffic lights take a right onto Staunton Lane – B4228 This road takes you into Coleford town.
At the traffic lights, go straight ahead. Approx 200m turn left onto Lords Hill towards Coleway. Continue along this road for approx. 4 miles until you reach the village of Parkend. (you’ll see Whitemead on your right). At the ‘triangle’ junction turn right (at the second turn, so not to drive into oncoming traffic!).
Drive approx.. 400m until you reach a cross road (you will pass the Fountain Pub on right). Go straight over this junction towards Yorkley.
Approx 2 miles, you will enter Yorkley. When you get to the top of the hill, you will see a pub The Bailey. Turn Right onto Lydney Road, which is directly in front of the pub – keep the pub on your right. DO NOT turn right so the pub is on your left.
